Daphne Pirie awarded Order of Australia

FOR Gold Coast sporting great Daphne Pirie, the biggest thrill of being awarded an Order of Australia in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours is that she has again helped put women’s sport in the limelight. The honour comes just days after she received one of six 2012 Queensland Greats awards, which was presented to her by Premier Campbell Newman at a ceremony on Friday.
