Sentosa, Singapore, March 23: Australia’s Marcus Fraser had another reason to smile after being voted as the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of Month for February.

Fraser, who took up his Asian Tour membership at the start of Maybank Championship Malaysia week in February, before going on to win the tournament was a clear favourite in the online poll.

The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.

The Australian’s gutsy, come-from-behind effort eventually saw him triumph by two shots, ending a six-year title drought.

“I’m delighted to win the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month. This is an endorsement of my achievements by my fans and I’ll strive to work even harder in this long season ahead,” said the 37-year-old, who currently leads the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

The online voting contest on www.asiantour.hiltongolf.com to determine the monthly winner, engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2016.

Besides casting their vote for their favourite player on the Asian Tour, fans, who log onto www.asiantour.hiltongolf.com also stand a chance to win a one night stay at any Hilton property of the choice.

Fraser won the award ahead of Korea’s Soomin Lee and South Africa’s Shaun Norris where the trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.

Lee has made a blistering start to the season with three top-10s in four starts while Norris’s sensational 61 during the third round of the Leopalace21 Myanmar helped him romp to a four-shot win and also his second Asian Tour victory.
