Clublinks Appointed Minnippi Golf Course Operators in Landmark 25yr Contract

POSTED ON May 21, 2022 @ 10:33 am

Brisbane City Council has confirmed the appointment of Clublinks Management Pty Ltd as operator of soon-to-be completed Minnippi Golf Course with a ground-breaking 25 year lease.

The public golf course, Brisbane’s first in 70 years, is expected to be completed and operational in later 2022. The course will sit behind the residential precinct at Minnippi Estate in Cannon Hill, in Brisbane’s south.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the new operator would deliver so much more at the site than just golf with family-friendly fun, community events and night activities all part of their plan.

“Minnippi Golf Course will be Brisbane’s first public golf course in 70 years, but under the management of Clublinks this site will also be a fantastic community space,” Cr Schrinner said.

“Activities like laser tag, bare foot putting, live music, night golf, outdoor cinemas, group pilates and yoga have been proposed for the site.

“An operating model like what Clublinks plans to deliver appeals to a much broader public and will see much wider community use on site.

“Further benefits of Clublinks operation are that it will come at no cost to ratepayers, and they have a strong commitment to ongoing investment and quality maintenance of this prime facility.

“With their strong track record of investing in and delivering diverse community spaces, we are extremely confident that the successful tenderer Clublinks will maximise the activation of this valuable greenspace.”

Cr Schrinner said the Minnippi Golf Course was being delivered to an incredibly high standard.

“This has been a significant project and will deliver an 18-hole golf course that has been built to the highest environmental standards,” he said.

“This new golf course will be great for players of all ages and all abilities, and I expect we will see the next generation of golfers learn to play at this course.”

A big win

Councillor for Doboy Lisa Atwood said the new public golf course at Cannon Hill was a big win for residents.

“The Schrinner Council is delivering the only public golf course south of the Brisbane River,” Cr Atwood said.

“Minnippi Golf Course is set to become a hugely popular spot for residents to come together with family and friends, and I’m sure the news about all of the extra offerings Clublinks will be delivering here will create a lot of excitement in the community.”

Minnippi Golf Course will be the first Queensland site for Clublinks, currently operating sites in VIC, NSW and WA.

CEO of Clublinks Anthony Lawrence said that the company was thrilled to be expanding into the Queensland market for the first time, and as selected operators for such a longed-for and important development in the area.

“We could see huge potential in this facility operating as a true community hub, with engaging experiences for golfers and non-golfers alike, tied together with exceptional F&B to round out the customer experience.

We specialise in operating community hubs where golf is played, and this aligned perfectly with Brisbane City Council’s ultimate vision for this facility,” Lawrence said.

Whilst golf will be the cornerstone activity of the course, a focus on community events and engagement has meant that the space will be utilised in unique ways including foot golf, laser tag, night golf (with glow balls!), outdoor open cinema evenings, non-golf sporting & fitness activities, bubbles & buckets ladies’ events and more.

The $25-million professional grade course includes an 18-hole course, driving range, putting green, club house and F&B offerings surrounded by lush nature including the Bulimba and Minnippi Creeks.
