The Metropolitan GC and Huntingdale GC discuss amalgamation

POSTED ON July 20, 2024 @ 4:31 pm

The Metropolitan Golf Club (MGC) and Huntingdale Golf Club (HGC) are in discussions about a potential amalgamation that offers members substantial additional value for their membership.

The Boards of both Clubs believe they have a unique chance to develop an exceptional 36-hole golfing experience following the redevelopment works of both golf courses which are due to be completed by the end of 2025.

The also believe that the opportunity to combine operations and rationalise resources to provide long term financial sustainability should be explored while recognising that they must continue to provide an exceptional on and off course experience to our members and guests.

The Boards have entered into a non-binding agreement that provides a framework for the two Clubs to fully explore the opportunity of a potential amalgamation. It should be noted that by signing a non-binding agreement, both Clubs can now embark on detailed due diligence including financial, operational, membership and legal considerations to determine if an agreement can be reached before being put to members of both Clubs for a vote.

Timing

The parties will  work towards holding member votes by 1 November 2025 assuming the respective MGC and HGC Boards agree to relevant terms. Subject to this member approval formal completion could occur on 1 March 2026.

Depending on the progress of due diligence, financial modelling and other factors it is important to recognise these dates may move.
