A new chapter starting for Eastern Golf Club
The Eastern Golf Club is delighted to announce the appointment of experienced golf club administrator, Brett Nelson, as the Club’s new General Manager.
“The appointment of Brett to the position of General Manager marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our Club’s rich history. Brett brings with him great passion and new sense of perspective which is complemented by an extensive knowledge of all aspects of running a successful private member golf club” – said Club Captain, Fred Jones.
Nelson joins The Eastern Golf Club less than eight months on from the tragic loss of their much-loved clubhouse and is already working closely with the team to ensure the Club’s temporary clubhouse facilities, the Members’ Pavilion, are delivering an exceptional food and beverage experience to the Club’s 1500+ golf and social members, corporate clients and accommodation guests. He will also take a lead role in the rebuilding of the new clubhouse amenities – with site preparatory works already underway.
“I’m very excited to join The Eastern Golf Club at this time, to be working closely with the Board and supporting our incredible team who have endured much yet shown so much resilience in continuing to provide a great experience for our members and guests under challenging circumstances. Together, we are looking forward to the exciting opportunities that are ahead of us as we rebuild” – said General Manager, Brett Nelson.
In further news, the Club will welcome the new Director of Golf, Leigh Deagan, to the team in the first week of May.
Brett Nelson brings with him extensive experience with 20+ years of involvement in the golfing industry – beginning ‘on the tools’ as a Turf Tradesperson, before holding senior management positions in some of Victoria’s most prestigious clubs. Brett joins Eastern Golf Club from Heritage Golf and Country Club where he was their CEO and prior to that worked at the world-renowned National Golf Club – holding the positions of Operations Manager and Food and Beverage Manager over 16 years.
Leigh Deagan has traveled the world playing golf professionally and witnessed a high level of service at golf clubs in many different countries. He started his golf as a junior at Victoria Golf Club and went on to represent his state and country as an amateur. He is also a former winner on the Australasian Tour.
The Members’ Pavilion opened in mid-January 2024 and offers the option of air-conditioned indoor dining and alfresco seating for sunnier days. It has already hosted several corporate golf days including the annual Priceline Sisterhood Foundation Golf Day: returning for the fourth year in a row, welcoming 130 players and guests.
