Aveo says it pulled Peregian Springs golf course development application

PROPERTY developer Aveo has revealed it contacted Sunshine Coast Council to seek suspension of its development application days ahead of the release Friday of a planning officers’ report rejecting its bid to develop sections of Peregian Springs Golf Course.

The news came as Peregian Supporters Group spokesman Greg Smith warned residents potentially faced a situation similar to Bunnings in Coolum where the company continued to submit development applications for a site on Barns Lane despite numerous knock backs by the council.

Sunshine Coast Council will at its ordinary meeting on August 18 in Nambour receive the recommendation from its planning department that the application for a 13-lot subdivision on the course off Lakeside Drive be rejected.

Asked whether it had confidence it could secure the support of councillors for the development application despite that recommendation Aveo, in a statement, said the question was “not applicable”. “Aveo requested Council a number of days ago to suspend the application,” the statement said without providing further detail.
