Brisbanes southside gets new 18-hole public golf course

POSTED ON June 23, 2014 @ 10:00 am

Brisbane will get a new 18-hole golf course by 2018.

The new golf course, revealed in Wednesday’s 2014-15 Brisbane City Council budget, will be built at Cannon Hill, when an old landfill site at 1825 Creek Road is rehabilitated, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said.

“From the second half of 2014 we will remediate the old landfill site on the south-eastern corner of the site,” he said.

“The subsequent stages will include a residential development and the construction of an 18-hole public golf course.”

It is unclear if the residential development is linked to the golf course, however Cr Quirk said the yet-to-named course would be for public use.

On Wednesday, Cr Quirk described his $2.9 billion 2014-15 budget as as a “steady as she goes” budget.
