Commonwealth Golf Club appoints new Course Manager

POSTED ON March 30, 2022 @ 1:52 pm

It was recently announced that Adam Lamb from Barwon Heads Golf Club has accepted the role as new Course Manager of Commonwealth Golf Club in the Melbourne Sandbelt.

Adam has spent over a decade at Barwon Heads Golf Club, commencing his role in 2009 following his position as Assistant Superintendent at The Metropolitan Golf Club.

He successfully managed the Club’s Course Development Plan over his 13 years, which has received excellent reviews throughout the golf industry, with the course maintaining a consistently high position in all course ranking publications.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Adam to progress his career and work with one of the world’s best course architects, Tom Doak from Renaissance Golf Design, on a course restoration plan at Commonwealth Golf Club.

“My time at Barwon Heads has been rewarding and a special period of my life, and I appreciate the opportunity given to me by the Committee, particularly Andrew Simms, Robin Boag, Robin Edge, and David Clifford when I was employed as a young assistant superintendent, from Melbourne 13 years ago. However, I feel it is now time to take on a new and different challenge,” said Adam about the new opportunity.

“I have developed a great appreciation of the uniqueness of The Barwon Heads Golf Club and respect the traditions on and off the course. It has been a pleasure developing friendships with the members and staff, and the support given to me by the Club over the journey is a healthy reflection of how great the Club has been to its staff.”

“Developing the staff and working through the completion of the Course Development Plan with Paul Mogford, Neil Crafter and Steve Speechley has certainly given me great satisfaction and are career highlights for me personally.”

“I am proud to be leaving the course in great shape, which over a long time has always, and will no doubt, continue to improve into the future. I hope to stay in touch with many from Barwon Heads and I will follow the progress of the Club with great interest.:

Adam will stay on at Barwon Heads until Friday 20th May.
