JOB: Assistant Professional – The Club at Parkwood Village ($70-90K)

The Club at Parkwood Village, soon to be known as Palm Valley Golf and Surf Resort, is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Professional to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about golf and eager to grow in a professional setting. Located in the heart of a scenic and vibrant area, The Club at Parkwood Village has long been a well-established and cherished golf course. With its tree-lined fairways, picturesque views, and welcoming community, the club has offered a memorable golfing experience for locals and visitors alike. As we evolve into Palm Valley Golf and Surf Resort, the transformation will include state-of-the-art golf facilities, a championship 18-hole course, luxury resort accommodations, and first-class amenities. The new resort will also feature a variety of recreational options, such as surfing, fitness, wellness, fine dining, and more, creating a diverse destination that appeals to both golfers and non-golfers.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Golf Operations

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to club members, guests, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the golf shop, handling inquiries, bookings, and customer transactions efficiently.
  • Support tee sheet management, member reservations, and guest check-ins, ensuring smooth flow of play.
  • Engage with guests to enhance their overall experience by providing insights into local amenities, activities, and golf options.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional golf shop and surrounding areas.

Retail & Inventory Management

  • Assist in retail sales within the golf shop, offering product recommendations and ensuring an excellent shopping experience.
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock replenishment, and support merchandising efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories to provide informed recommendations to customers.

Competition & Event Management

  • Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of golf tournaments, events, and member activities.
  • Support competition management, ensuring accurate scoring, smooth event logistics, and an enjoyable player experience.
  • Manage and oversee indoor golf leagues, ensuring an engaging and well-organized program.

Golf Instruction & Player Engagement

  • Support golf instruction programs, including clinics, private lessons, and group lessons.
  • Assist with set-up and coordination of coaching sessions to enhance player development and experience.

Operational & Roster Management

  • Assist in the scheduling and management of staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate daily responsibilities and event requirements.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism and operational efficiency to maintain a premium golf experience.

This role requires a proactive and customer-focused approach to ensure the smooth operation of the golf facility, delivering a high-quality experience for members, guests, and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in golf or a customer-facing role preferred.
  • A passion for golf and strong knowledge of the game.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and a team-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PGA or LPGA certification or actively pursuing certification.
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems (POS) and inventory management to efficiently manage transactions, sales, and stock levels in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with handling inventory tracking, order replenishment, and maintaining product organization within the golf shop.
  • Experience and knowledge of MiClub for member management, tee sheet operations, and online booking systems, as well as familiarity with Golf Genius for tournament and event management, will be an asset in this role.

Remuneration:

  • Competitive salary to be negotiated with the successful candidate*
  • Lesson commission will be 70/30 split.
  • Your anticipated hours of work will fall in line with the amusement events and recreation award 2020.

*It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have the capacity to earn between $70-90K with the scope to increase coaching as the role develops.
