POSTED ON September 8, 2024 @ 1:36 pm

Come lead the team as CEO of the “newest golf club” in Sydney!

The Club

Sydney’s newest golf club, Oak Point Golf Club, has arisen from the recent amalgamation of Kogarah and Liverpool Golf Clubs. It is located 30 minutes West of the Sydney airport.

The two clubs will continue to run as two separate venues as ‘Oak Point Golf Club’ until March 2025, when the Kogarah Golf Club venue closes permanently. From there, Liverpool Golf Club will be the only venue and formally become Oak Point Golf Club. (the Kogarah venue has been sold and will be re-developed after closing in March 2025)

Several major upgrades are to be undertaken on the golf course and clubhouse over the next few years.

The current long-term Kogarah GC General Manager will also be stepping down in March after more than 30 years in the role.

Membership levels are currently around 1,000 members (970 golfing members) with a projected annual turnover of $5,000,000

Oak Point Golf Club Ltd is a ‘Members Golf Club’ with a business plan of attracting and retaining members and guests by providing:

  • A well-maintained course offering challenges for a wide range of golfing abilities and physical capability; offering both social and competitive golf opportunities.
  • A club professional providing coaching and golfing-related retail equipment and services.
  • A clubhouse area that encourages regular, repeat custom with tasty food and drink at competitive prices, and a calendar of social events.
  • A welcoming customer interface for the operation.

The Role

Oak Point Golf Club is seeking an experienced CEO to lead the club through the final stages of an Amalgamation which will bring staff and members together under one shared vision for the new club. The role will also manage the day-to-day operations of the Club and lead the team in delivering these products and services in line with the strategic plan set by the Board.

Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, the CEO will also act in the role of Company Secretary.

Experience in the golf club industry is not essential, although a sound knowledge and understanding of the game of golf is preferable.

Ideally, the successful candidate would have:

  • Ability to manage contractors and multiple projects running simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead and manage club and local stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to elevate member and guest satisfaction.
  • A minimum of five years experience in a senior manager position in a Club-related environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A sound understanding of the club regulations and compliance.
  • Strong information technology skills and knowledge.
  • Experience in delivering strategic objectives in a stakeholder environment.
  • An appreciation of the Club environment and culture.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

A salary package commensurate with the skills and capabilities displayed by the successful applicant is on offer.

To ensure an adequate handover period with the incumbent General Manager the role could start anytime in 2024, but at the latest by 1 February 2025.
