New Direction for Gainsborough Greens
One of the Gold Coast’s oldest established golf courses, Gainsborough Greens at Pimpama, is now being run by the company also responsible for Windaroo Lakes and Palm Meadows golf courses.Gainsborough Greens Golf Course is owned by national, publicly listed real estate development company Mirvac and forms the centre piece of a large master planned residential community which will ultimately comprise over 2200 home sites.Mirvac has appointed specialists GC Golf Management Pty Ltd to run the golf course and the golf club.GC Golf Management was formed in 2000 and is headed up by Paul Wiedman and Anthony Musgrave.Mirvac’s Queensland CEO Matthew Wallace said the new management team would be a positive for Gainsborough Greens.“The golf club and course has been an extremely popular members course over many years and is renown particularly for corporate golf days and for special events like weddings, he said. “However, there are economies of scale and a depth of knowledge provided by the new management team that we believe will be beneficial for the future of Gainsborough Greens and the golfers who play there.“We want to ensure that the golf course and the club continues to run as efficiently as possible, the current membership base increases and the course is maintained in top condition and we think that GC Golf Management will help us achieve that outcome.“The golf course is the centerpiece of our development and like any business it is vitally important to succeed both economically as well as maintain its assets in top condition and we are confident that the new team will help us deliver on those fronts. For Paul Weidman and Anthony Musgrave taking control of Gainsborough Greens is a return to the past. Weidman worked at Gainsborough Greens for 12 years after it first opened more than two decades ago and when he left he was golf operations manager. “Not only did I work there for a long time, but we got married there and we lived in the caretaker’s house so my feeling for and links with Gainsborough Greens are very strong, he said.Anthony Musgrave ran the golf shop for more than two and a half years before joining the new management team.GC Golf Management says that members will derive immediate benefits with playing benefits at the other two courses the company operates and they will also see improvements in standards as a result of the combined talent pool and expertise that the new management company brings to the table.“We pride ourselves in the quality of our courses and we know that the condition of our golf courses and they experience that they provide is our best advertisement, said Weidman.“Actions speak louder than words and I think the members and future visitors to Gainsborough Greens will be very happy with the way things pan out.Mirvac has released two of up to seven individual residential villages at Gainsborough Greens, Terrace Green and Green Park, and so far more than $20 million in property has been sold.
