Peregian Springs Golf Club is on the brink
The 18-hole golf course, designed by pro-golfer Adam Scott’s father, Phil, has been one of the most popular courses on the Sunshine Coast since it was built 10 years ago, but now faces an uncertain future as squabbles continue over land use.
Residents are concerned the lack of an operating golf club and a proposal to carve up the course for residential development will smash house prices and interrupt views they paid a premium for.
“The club was the heart of the whole development,” Peregian Springs Residents Association member Greg Smith told The Courier Mail.
“The existence of the course enabled developers to enjoy tens of millions of dollars in premiums on lots next to the golf course. Now to suggest they can double-dip by selling off more golf course land is not on.”
Peregian Golf Club had been in financial trouble for several years, racking up losses of $1.37 million last year and $1.77 million in 2014.
