WA’s Marangaroo and Carramar Golf Courses to receive upgrades

POSTED ON January 29, 2025 @ 2:01 pm

Marangaroo and Carramar golf courses are set for exciting upgrades to bring the facilities into the modern era and expand sport and recreation opportunities for the community.

Preferred concept designs for the proposed upgrades at both courses were endorsed at the December Ordinary Council Meeting.

Proposed improvements to the Marangaroo facility include a new clubhouse and hospitality area with modern and functional retail areas, food and beverage facilities, and an undercover single-level driving range with smart golf technology.

Carramar patrons can look forward to a renovated clubhouse and a single-level driving range with smart golf technology.

Mayor Linda Aitken said with golf participation rates climbing around Australia, it was time to update the already popular courses.

“Marangaroo and Carramar are already successful golfing destinations, and these upgrades will create even more opportunities for the courses to increase community engagement, be sustainable and remain competitive,” she said.

“The City has worked closely with operators Belgravia Health & Leisure Group to ensure the improvements fit with the City’s Tourism Plan 2019-2024, which positions Wanneroo as a vibrant destination, activated by exciting events, connected communities and nature at its best.”

Belgravia Leisure Business Operations Manager, Douglas Bailey, said he was pleased with the progress on plans to upgrade the courses.

“This endorsement represents a significant step towards realising the planned upgrades at both facilities, ensuring they meet not only the golf community’s expectations but delivering modern, family-based entertainment and hospitality facilities,” he said.

The upgrades align with the Golf Courses Strategic Plan 2024-2039, which outlines a 15-year vision for Carramar and Marangaroo, with an emphasis on smart technology, improved hospitality options and inclusive activities to appeal to a wide range of audiences.

Belgravia will now proceed to the detailed design stage.

The final plans, as well as estimated costs and funding options to support the proposed upgrades, will be discussed at a Council meeting in early 2025.
